We’ve got a storm churning out in the Gulf and warnings have been issued. No need to panic but it’s best to keep an eye on it just in case things change. Here’s what’s happening along the coast this week…
TODAY’S CATCH
Tropical Storm Bertha is expected to brush along the coast through Wednesday, bringing 30-40 mph winds, scattered tropical showers, and rough surf to our stretch of sand. The biggest concern isn't the rain—it's the beach. Forecasters are warning of dangerous rip currents, 6–10 ft waves, and red flag conditions that could make the Gulf look calmer than it really is. It won't be a washout, but this is one of those weeks when the safest place to enjoy the Gulf might be from a beach chair instead of the water. beach conditions
There's a new officer on patrol in Orange Beach, and he's already got the best name on the force. Meet K9 Gator, the newest member of the Orange Beach Police Department, trained to detect narcotics, track suspects, and help locate missing people. Apparently, beach vacations and donuts go together better than sunscreen and flip-flops. City Donut just earned another national nod after being featured by Southern Living as one of the best beach donut shops in the South. The family-owned favorite is known for its fresh-made donuts, creative toppings, and those glazed croissants that have developed a bit of a following of their own.
