Gulf Shores Fire Rescue has a new place to practice for the emergencies we all hope never happen. The department recently opened a hands-on training facility where firefighters can prepare for structure fires, rescues, and other emergency situations without waiting for the real thing. It’s one of those things you hope you’ll never need — but you’re awfully glad it’s there. ready when needed
Mobile is opening its brand new Regions Arena with a little hometown flavor. The Red Clay Strays will headline the arena’s first concert on March 25, 2027, joined by fellow Alabama favorites St. Paul and the Broken Bones. Tickets are on sale now, and with three nights scheduled, fans have a few chances to catch a show. Not a bad way to break in a new stage — two Alabama bands and a whole lot of hometown pride. turn it up
Gulf Shores is considering loosening the rules for folks running businesses from home. A proposed zoning change would remove the current one home business per household limit, allowing multiple qualifying businesses at the same residence — something Foley already allows. With working from home being much more common now than it used to be, hopefully Orange Beach will join the party and modernize its rules too. home office rules
